Taiwan Social Distancing: A COVID-19 Exposure Notification App

Taiwan Social Distancing is an Android app developed by the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in collaboration with the Executive Yuan and Taiwan Centers of Disease Control. It aims to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by providing at-risk users in Taiwan with exposure notifications and follow-up instructions. By minimizing non-essential in-person interactions, the app helps users reduce the risk of exposure and make informed decisions on traveling, commuting, and shopping. It is a voluntary app that users can install or uninstall based on their preference. The app also aims to mitigate negative economic impacts by encouraging social distancing while allowing businesses to continue operating. Furthermore, it promotes the reduction of non-essential physical interactions to lower the risk of transmission. Additionally, users who test positive for COVID-19 can anonymously share their status with close contacts to prevent further spread. Lastly, the app allows users to manage their vaccination certificates by scanning the QR code of the digital COVID-19 certificate.
